This piece is part of a series called The Wallflowers. The word itself bothered me enough to keep making these works, haha! In a social context, being a wallflower often gets a bad rap—people think it means you're shy, timid, or disengaged. So what? It's frustrating that women are so often labeled just for not acting the way society expects. But here's the thing: there's a more positive side to being a wallflower—especially when you realize that knowing when to be quiet, blend in, and observe can be a powerful skill.
It’s about being strategic in how you engage with the world. Sometimes, stepping back to gain clarity or understanding is exactly what you need to do.
